Wish Worley a Happy Birthday by Supporting ABB!

by Andrew on March 3, 2010

bb-13Today is our star Chris Worley’s birthday. As Jason Ackart, an aspiring children’s entertainer coping with a fear of impending fatherhood, Worley brought his gifts as a stand-up comedian and improv actor to bear on a serious romantic drama, lending his character a goofy likability and accessibility that might have been lacking in the hands of a lesser performer and bringing a lighter touch to the film as a whole. I’ve never had the pleasure of working with a more dedicated or humble actor. Working all but one day of our production schedule, Worley lead a team of talented performers through a tough low budget shoot, often taking time out of his work to give the crew a pep-talk or words of encouragement through our more grueling days. Worley occasionally misread his calltime and would show up at Crew Call, hours before he was due on set. When this happened, you could usually find him at the catering table, serving the crew breakfast and coffee. He loved the process and loved our crew, and we loved him right back.

On Christmas Day 2009, Worley sent me this note, which I hope he won’t mind me sharing (slightly abridged): “So I’m sitting at the train station about to go to Philly, when I started to reflect on the things that happened to me in 2009. Hands-down, the greatest thing I did this year was shoot a movie called A Beautiful Belly. I still have not been able to find the proper way to express my sincere joy and elation for shooting my first movie and feeling so comfortable and happy in the process. I look forward to the day when I can show my appreciation in a way I deem worthy, but until then: thank you. From the bottom of my heart.”

Worley, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you right back. Making this movie has been a dream of mine, years in the making. I’ve poured every ounce of my soul into it, and I couldn’t have done it without your steadfast dedication and equal investment. Thank you for all the laughs, the drinks, and most of all, an incredible performance! Happy birthday, buddy! May 2010 bring even better things for you!

To all our fans and friends of Worley, I hope you’ll join me in helping to launch this tremendous actor into stardom. Please support Worley’s artistic work by contributing to our post production fund through Paypal. How awesome would it be if Worley’s friends raised $500 on his birthday? Also, please remember to rate Worley’s performance in our trailer on YouTube below. Give Worley the five star rating he so richly deserves on his birthday!

Happy Birthday! Chris. The movie looks great. I agree with what Kathy wrote above. I am looking forward to seeing the whole movie. Does this mean I actually have to go to a theater to see it? I told you when you were in school there was a time and place for your humor and talent. This is clearly the time and place. Does this mean now your mother and I can count on your supporting us in our old age, or as you put it, feeding and watering? Love Dad
