ABB blog back from hiatus with big news!
by Andrew on October 24, 2009

Hey, there, friends! Andrew here, with the first blog entry since July 9 (when we were still in production)! I’m a little embarrassed by that gap. The hiatus was entirely unintentional. Everyone on the team just sort of got busy, then after a while, I couldn’t really think of anything to say.
Well, we’re now deep into the editorial process. Our first substantially solid cut came in at a whopping 2 hour, 3 minute running time, so we’re now exploring strategies for tightening up the narrative. We’re also planning on shooting a new opening scene in December, a simple but clever way to establish a deeper and more immediate audience connection with the protagonist. Other than the necessary tweaking, we’re very excited about the progress the film is making. I really believe we’ve made a fantastic film.
I also have to apologize for the lack of trailer we’d hoped to have up in September. We ran out of hard drives, so there was no way for me to continue work on the trailer while Morgan continued work on the feature cut. Once our new assistant editor Jamie Freeman is finished syncing all our production sound (we did our first cut using camera sound), we’ll have a free drive to dedicate to trailer work. I’m sure we’ll have a trailer up for the holidays.
Oh, and of course I promised big news in the header of this post. Well, as it turns out, my wife and I are having a baby, due July 3rd. It’ll be interesting and exciting to continue working on this film (this film, in particular) as my wife and I experience our first pregnancy. This film was already a very personal story for me, so it’s kind of a case of life imitating art imitating life. No doubt, you can expect lots of ruminations from me in the future of how my perspective of fatherhood (and movies about fatherhood) changes over time!
Sorry I don’t have any new photos or media to contribute, but I promise many more updates in the coming months. Stay tuned!

so very neat! congrats!
